Copyrights and Media

On April 21, 2023, Arpine Hovhannisyan, Ph.D. In Law, an Associate Professor at Yerevan State University gave a lecture on Copy Rights and Media. The lecture was organized by the Association of Intellectual Property Right Armenian Lawyers (AIPR) and was part of the World Intellectual Property Day celebration events. Ms. Hovhannisyan presented to more than 130 participants of the lecture the legislative history of copyright regulation for the media. She provided a detailed overview of the copyright protection of press content and the criteria for the fair use of the media content. Additionally, a vivid discussion occurred regarding all the challenges media outlets encounter while protecting their content. The lecture was finalized by an active question and answers session where the participants touched upon issues of not only the protection of the media content but also the protection of photos and the using AI in the media sphere. The association also arranged the online transmission of the lecture for the students from Artaksh Republic, which enabled the students to raise the questions they were interested in. The lecture served as an interactive platform for discussions of the leading copyright challenges in Armenia and provided an overview of practical tools for protecting media content.
